Daco Solutions invest in a XYZ SMX 3500 CNC milling machine

Continuing to look to the future and invest in the right technology, processes for the business and product development Daco make a further investment in its machine shop.   This includes several machines purchased from XYZ Machine Tools, including our latest SMX 3500 CNC milling machine.

The SMX lends itself to one-off and low-volume production, programming is done at the machine and is both easy to learn and user friendly.

David Beynon, Managing Director, comments “The XYZ SMX 3500 will allow us to produce one-off and small runs more efficiently than our previous Bridgeport manual mills with the added benefit of storing programs for use at a later date.  Many of the parts we produce for our machines when building bespoke, custom requirement s to a standard machine or parts that are not used regularly can now be manufactured efficiently.”

The SMX 3500 CNC milling machine offers 530mm of programmable ‘Z’ travel with the versatility of a swivel head and manual quill.  With a table size of 1370 x 356mm (54” x 14”) and travel of 787 x 508 x 530mm (31” x 20” x 23”) will allow Daco to produce most of the components required.

Mark Laurence, Sales Manager, Daco Solutions, comments “Whilst we see many of our clients investing in new equipment which is faster, easier to use and with production benefits we also need to invest in our future.  The philosophy at XYZ Machine Tools is very similar to Daco by manufacturing machinery that are cost effective, easy to use and require little operator training.  By making this investment we are able to increase throughput in the machine shop and reduce lead times to an absolute minimum.”

Daco Solutions design and manufacture all of their mechanical parts in house with the exception of some large volume components that are manufactured locally by a sub-contract CNC machine shop.  2019 will see a further investment in a CNC lathe and to allow for greater flexibility in turned component manufacture and lead times.
