Acorn Labels, based in Cambridgeshire, UK install a Daco PLR430 to compliment the recent installation of a 3 colour Focus e-Flex 430mm UV flexographic label press.

Sam Heneker, of Acorn Labels, visited Daco Solutions to discuss their finishing options at Labelexpo Europe to discuss the options available.  They had decided to move to a 430mm web width and existing rewinding equipment had a maximum web width of 350mm.

During the visit, the stand, Mark Laurence, Daco Sales Manager discussed the benefits of the new Daco SVT fully automatic turret rewinder being exhibited.  However, Acorn has several of Daco’s PLD350 semi-automatic turret rewinders with die-cut facilities and preferred their speed of setup and ease of use.

Sam Heneker comments “Once we had decided to go with a 430mm web width we had to look at the finishing options available.  All of our finishing and die-cutting equipment is from Daco Solutions which also includes the Daco DF350SR semi-rotary for finishing labels from our Domino N610i inkjet press.  We like the simplicity of the Daco 3 spindle semi-auto turrets, but they were only made in 250 & 350 web widths.  I’ve always found Daco to be able to build what we need and persuaded them to produce a 430mm (17”) version.

Mark Laurence comments ‘It’s great to work closely with our clients and now manufacture the Daco PLR430 to suit the 430 (17”) web which is becoming more common with press manufacturers such as Edale and Focus Label Machinery.  Acorn Labels have now purchased 15 machines from Daco Solutions, and it’s great to see that they are continuing to invest in equipment.
